Kazushi Asano (Nihon University)
Dr. Kazushi Asano graduated from Hokkaido University on 1991, followed by clinical internship in private practice. He returned to Hokkaido University, and researched on the cardiac hormones and echocardiography. Then, he acquired PhD from the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University on 1999. Since then, he continues to work for Nihon University. In the interim, he received special training in Micheal E. DeBakey Institute, Texas A&M University from Mar/2005 to Mar/2006. In addition, he got founding diplomate of Japanese College of Veterinary Surgeons on 2009. From 2015, he has been working as a professor of Veterinary Surgery in Nihon University.
Dr. Asano consistently has been focusing on soft tissue surgery for small animals. Especially, one of his majors is surgical oncology, especially surgery for liver, adrenal, gastrointestinal, prostate and intrathoracic tumors. His original and creative surgical procedures and knowledges have been presented in various domestic and international conferences. As well as surgical oncology, his interests also extend to minimally invasive surgery such as endoscopic techniques, and interventional radiology including coil embolization and trans-arterial chemoembolization. His presentations about soft tissue surgery have received many awards in Japanese and international congresses.
Now, Dr. Asano vigorously researches on small animal clinical medicine and performs surgeries in the veterinary teaching hospital. More than 50 vets belong to his laboratory as a clinical fellow and a graduate student for improving their surgical skills and working the several projects. Many domestic and international presentations and papers are generated from his laboratory every year.
